What made me Grab this?
While walking the walls at my collage’s library. This book caught my eye. I went into the library looking to find books about universal healthcare and left with one discussing systemic racism. Due to the increased tension revolving racial discussions (especially in 2026 America) I picked this book up to quickly skim and go back to my mission of finding a book on healthcare. I was fascinated by the way Oluo discussed her experiences of racism and the similarities it had with mine, for that reason I borrowed the book and I am currently reading.

So you want to talk about race is about how to navigate discussion surrounding race, how it impacts society, and ways to tackle systemic racism. Author Oluo goes into detail about her interactions with racists (consciously and unconsciously), and how she tackles it today. Growing up in Seattle, Oluo faced discrimination from a young age. She attended college and received a degree in political science (she discusses its influences in her career throughout the book). Overall, this a is a fantastic read, check back in a few days to read my review of Oluo’s book.
